Welcome to the Youth Church At Home

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good week. Thank you so much to those that helped with packing the kids resources this week, it was great to see you in person and have some extra hands for the job.

This week I have seen many shocking things in the news and all over social media, if we were together this Sunday then I would be wanting to hear your thoughts and have a conversation together! However, being apart, I have found some videos to help you think about some of the topics that have been brought to the surface this week and have some conversations at home.

These are big topics and none of us expect anyone to have all the answers, but today I encourage you to start, or continue the conversation at home about some of these issues and think and reflect together, now and in the future.

What do you think?

What do you think about Trump posing for a photo with the bible?
What do you think about Malcolm Corden sharing a passage from the bible on TV?

In The News

Sometimes big things come up in the news that require us to have a think and reflect and today I encourage us to do just that.

You would have to be living in a bubble to have not seen the death of George Floyd and Black Lives Matter protests this week. I have been horrified to hear of the racism that happens that I have never experienced and living where we live, don’t necessarily see day to day. I have been trying to educate myself more on this and become more aware of the injustice and racism that black people experience. We will never know what this feels like, but we can become more educated and stand up for justice.

I have found the below video insightful to hear about day to day racism that black people experience, I recommend watching it all when you have time but here is a 20-minute clip to hear some experiences.

Song Of The Week

“Let the darkness light up in Jesus name.”

This has been one of my favourite worship songs over the past year. Especially with reflecting in the news this week and the current pandemic, these lyrics bring new meaning.

Just For Fun

After all our serious thinking let’s have a break with some magic.

Music

Here is a playlist to check out at home!
