Welcome to the Youth Church At Home

Hi everyone! I hope you are having a good week. Great to see some of you on Zoom the other day, Sophie loved being able to chat with you all!

There are a few different things below that I hope you will find of interest or be helpful to you. If there is anything particular you’d like to know more about or look at in future weeks then let me know.

Song Of The Week

With so much going on in the world, or with the unknown about what the next few months look like we can sometimes feel overwhelmed. This song looks at how we can let the joy that comes from God drive us rather than everything happening around us.

This is Letitia Wright (“Shuri” in Black Panther*) talking about how her friend told her about Jesus and the verse he shared that brought her on a journey to becoming a Christian and how different she felt in her life.

Letitia talks about the Bible app ‘YouVersion’ I don’t know if you have this downloaded on your phones, it’s so great at making the bible easy to read with different reading plans that give you a video or something short to read each day. Letitia’s has written a 3 day plan here.

The Bible app also has started doing stories where it shares a verse for the day and a 2-minute talk on that verse. I have enjoyed these in lockdown as something really easy to pick up and watch that is just as easy to watch as an Instagram story or TikTok video. I encourage you to take a look at these, it would take up less than 3 minutes of your day and well worth that time.

*Black Panther is an iconic film, being the first Marvel film directed by a black person and having a nearly all black cast. It also takes a stand for black women and portrays an African nation from a perspective that it wouldn’t normally be represented from. Have a Google about it’s importance to find out more.

Lockdown Confessions

The talk series starting today is called ‘Lockdown Lessons’ but before we get into that what are your ‘Lockdown Confessions’?

My confession time (Aimee)

  1. I wear lounge pants most days, only putting on actual trousers if I need to leave the house. (I was caught out on a video meeting the other week when I had to stand up to get something and I had penguin pyjama bottoms on)
  2. I count Just Dance on the Switch as lockdown exercise.

What would be your lockdown confessions?
